About This Surah
Surah Ar-Rahman (The Most Merciful) is a surah of 78 verses, celebrated as one of the most beautiful chapters in the Quran. Its famous repeating refrain — "So which of your Lord's favors will you deny?" (repeated 31 times) — creates a unique literary effect unlike any other surah, directly addressing both jinn and humans simultaneously.

The Prophet ﷺ said: "Everything has a bride, and the bride of the Quran is Surah Ar-Rahman." It is among the most recited surahs for healing and spiritual well-being. Its unique dual address to both humans and jinn, and the 31-fold repetition of the refrain, makes it unparalleled in world religious literature.
Context of Revelation
The surah's exact classification (Meccan or Medinan) is debated; most scholars consider parts of it Meccan. When the Prophet ﷺ first recited it to the jinn, they responded to each refrain with "None of Your favors, O our Lord, do we deny" — a response the Quran itself approvingly notes.
About the Reciter
Sheikh Saud Al-Shuraim is a former senior Imam and Khateeb of Masjid al-Haram in Mecca, Saudi Arabia. Born in Riyadh in 1966, he holds a PhD in Islamic Jurisprudence (Fiqh) and is a respected judge, scholar, and Quran reciter of the highest standing.
